This custom built buggy was owned and operated by George Day. He ran a Big-Block Buick engine and an automatic transmission. Note the dual rear tires. A lot of water pumper style buggies ran the dual, hand grooved tires for better traction in the sand. This was before the almighty 'paddle tire'. The pictures in George's gallery were submitted by George and taken in Glamis, California in the mid to late 60's. George and my grandfather used to prowl around the desert together. Those must have been the days!
